Open Game day on your phone or tablet and pick the sheet you are running. The first time, tap "Log calls to" and choose tonight's game or make a new one from the sheet's own opponent and date. Offense, defense and special teams sheets that point at the same game show up as tabs at the top, so a coordinator swings to another unit's sheet without leaving the screen.
The sheet opens in the style you built it in -- boxes, the grid, or the numbered list -- and the toggle at the top switches between them on this screen only. Flipping to Numbers on a phone never changes what prints.
One press: Ran
Every play has a Ran button. Tap it, give the call a quick +/- and a note if you want one, and Log it. That is a snap in the Film Room already: the play, the unit, your grade, the box it came from and the number you said. Nothing else is required of the coach calling the game.
The second coach keeps the situation
- Open the Call log strip under the number box. The last call is open, because that is the one you want. It stays open when another call is logged, so you can finish it; Done or a tap on its row folds it up.
- Fill in what you saw: down, distance, yard line, hash, yards (one box: a loss is a minus number), what happened (touchdown, sack, flag, fumble we recovered), and whether the play never happened (timeout, flag before the snap).
- Down, distance and yard line are already filled in from the last call -- change what is wrong and leave the rest. Every field saves on its own, so two of you can fill one box from two phones without stepping on each other. There is no Save button: a call shows "Saving…" until the server has it, and if the signal drops it says so and keeps what you typed with a Retry.
- Missed a call? "Another call" logs anything that was not on the sheet, and "Missed call before" on any call puts one in its right place, already set to the down it happened on. Tapped Ran by mistake? Undo is on the newest call for thirty seconds; Remove works on any of them.
A flag before the snap or a timeout is not a play. Mark it under "Before the snap" and the report leaves it out; the film cursor still lands on it, because it is on the tape.
Saturday: the film lands on the calls
In the Film Room, mark in and out as usual. With a unit picked, Save puts the clip on the next unfilmed call from the log -- the button says which one -- and opens it. Kickoffs and returns have their own cursor, so they never eat an offensive call. Landed on the wrong one? Undo on the snap, or Save as new snap.
If a call was missed on the sideline, log it with "Missed call before" and use "Refill from here" on the log: it re-runs down and distance for every call after it to the end of the drive and shows you the changes before they land.
The call log is on the Team plan, because it assumes a second body on the sideline. Anyone with a coach login can keep the situation; a student manager or a parent needs a coach seat to do it.
